Hygge
I stumbled across hygge while I was looking for curiosity approach. I've always wanted to do curiosity but it was so expensive.
I was googling early years courses and hygge accreditation popped up. It sounded just up my street. It was as I've described that I didn't seem to 'fit in' when I was teaching in a primary school. I loved to change things around to suit the children and learn from them and their needs. When I discovered Hygge I felt I'd found a community that was 'just like me'.
I haven't looked back, completing the accreditation, wanderlust nature study, spring conference 2020 and then becoming an ambassador where I've been able to 'spread the love'.
Hygge to me is calming, nature based and child led. In my outstanding childminding setting I do not plan topics or themes, I very much take the lead from my children and adapt the environment to be the 3rd teacher.
I always have and always will learn more about early years and adapt my setting to what I believe in. How I believe children learn best, while listening to them, taking ques from their interests.
